Avalanche render

Compositing

After having Muster chew through my scene I made a quick composite to test all the elements. There some things I really have to tweak like the snow coming down and where the avalanche starts to be visible.

Anyhow here’s the clip Rendertest2

Avalanche

Compositing

Animating the avalanche scene

Continuing to put my dear bunker through some tough challenges I decided to release a Avalanche upon it. The film is as before taken by my father flying from Tärnasjön to Tärnaby and by that passing Syterskalet. The trick here is to get the camera track perfect to allow me to place objects on the mountainside. Another trick is to get the lighting and shadows to mimic the real world.

After some trial and error I got the camera and scene to work nice with the original shot. The only thing left to do is for me to light and render the scene before moving into After Effects for some final tweaks.

F18 initial testrender

Compositing

First render of the F18 scene

After some tweaks to match the light in the original shot I had to divide the scene into different render passes. To my surprise the smoke trail from the missile had to be rendered in a seperate layer to reduce rendertime  by 15 minutes per frame. It hade to do the plane casting shadow onto the transparent smoke particles. The same shadow effect was faked in After Effects using an animated mask.

Gutiar Dude

My little sparetime project is now animated and currently making it’s way through the rendering phaze. I must say that it was really fun working with the pirate character ones more, even though he’s simple his expression seams to fit any sitation that I put him in.

As a final note, as a reference for the animation of the Pirate I found this insane video on youtube.

A homage to Guitar Hero

Uncategorized

Guitar Character

After a really fun party at a friends place me and my girlfriend started to plan our own party to be held in November. The party will involve allot of console gaming together with various beverages. To get the mood right and prevent the guests from turning down the invitation :) I decided to animate the invitation card in the spirit of Guitar Hero. The plot is simple, a kind of “surprise-metal-shock”.
